Our aim is to make your fishing adventure and stay in the bay of islands an experience you will remember.

Within 5 miles of port you can catch Snapper or Kingfish, further out you may encounter a huge array of sea life which in turn attracts the game fish that we are so privileged to catch.  From the stripe marlin to black and blue marlin you just never know what can jump on your lure or bait.  With a huge amount of deep water reefs the Hapuka is another fish that is a must do and try in New Zealand.  All with an amazing backdrop from the 144 islands within the Bay of Islands. 

From share trips to private trips, as a professional guide it is my aim to make sure you remember your fishing on Days Out.  All fishing gear is proudly supplied by Okuma.  Fish will be filleted for you to enjoy at a local restaurant or to take home with you. Growing up in the Bay of Islands has given me a passion and the opportunity to experience the ocean and the fish that inhabit it.  I joined the New Zealand Navy straight out of school and spent 5 1/2 years as a navigator traveling all around the world. This enabled me to sit my captains license. 

After spending a few years commercial tuna fishing I finally ended up back up in the Bay of Islands.  I had to get back on the ocean so I got involved in the charter fishing industry and have never looked back. I now hold an Offshore Watchkeepers certificate. 

Our Boat

I have decided to bring a custom made 40 ft centre console fishing machine to the Bay of Islands, designed for the waters that inhabit the bay and beyond.

Days Out is a one of a kind vessel. Private flush toilet and full shower, fridge, oven, tuna tubes huge live bait tank and wheel chair access. With huge in floor fish tanks plenty of room for your fish you will be amazed at the amount of room to walk and fish or just sit back and relax fully certified in safe ship management for up to 10 people.  Great for large groups or as a shared trip having lots of room with all the modern comforts including the  latest electronics which include a Garmin16 inch touch screen sounder and a 48 mile radar 1kw transducer fusions sound system. 

We are excited to have you join us fishing and to show you our wonderful playground, Bay of Islands is home to some of the biggest Snapper and Kingfish in the world.  Days Out is a custom made one of a kind 11.6mtr centre console fully rigged fishing machine. With full walk around, a sun shade and a fully enclosed cabin to protect you from the elements.
